About the Wilson Group

The Wilson Group is based in the School of Chemistry at the University of Birmingham and is currently supported by The University of BirminghamEPSRC and BBSRC

Group Mission

The Wilson group are committed to the education, training and career development of early career researchers having hosted > 60 researchers as PhD candidates and postdoctoral associates who have progressed to careers in academia, industry, and aligned scientific roles.

Harnessing synthetic chemistry, structural molecular biophysics and computational approaches, our internationally diverse team are from a range of scientific, demographic and cultural backgrounds.

Interdisciplinarity is central to our work at the chemistry-biology interface, developing enabling tools to study, manipulate and drug biomolecular mechanisms.

Novel modalities that we explore as potential modulators of protein-protein interactions and intrinsically disordered proteins include: small-molecules, peptidomimetics, biologics, fragments and covalent modifiers.

Kindness, Collegiality and Collaboration with others is at the core of our efforts to deliver responsible research and innovation that is sustainable, societally and economically impactful.

Our group is participating in several large-scale, multi-investigator programmes including SPiDR, a major BBSRC investment, and led on the EPSRC PoPPI Programme.
